Sits in the *Fun* tier of the Art & Design lane: bought for the design and the story, not to fill a functional slot or for the movement. The photography counterpart (Nodus Obscura II) is still on the [[Watch Wish List]]. Ordered September 2026 — not yet arrived. ## Why I Chose It - **The coffee tie-in is real, not cosmetic.** Brew is a coffee-culture brand (founder Jonathan Ferrer), and the Retrograph's bezel is a genuine **espresso shot timer** — the ideal extraction window is 25–35 seconds, so the first 35 seconds of the outer track carry extra hash marks for precise shot timing. A watch that pairs with the [[Lelit Elizabeth]] on the counter. - **Espresso dial.** The oxidized, crema-like patina finish is the reason to pick this colorway over Technicolor/Cobalt. - **38mm cushion case** wears compact (41.5mm lug-to-lug) — within my size comfort zone. - **Meca-quartz** gives a satisfying sweeping-then-snapping chrono hand without the cost or preciousness of a mechanical chronograph — exactly right for a fun, wear-it-anywhere piece. - **~$375, zero preciousness.** Low-commitment "just because I love it" buy, same logic as the [[Baltic MR Roulette]]. ## The Espresso Shot Timer The signature feature: the outer bezel/dial track is calibrated for pulling espresso. Because a good shot extracts in roughly 25–35 seconds, Brew emphasized that window with extra hash marks so you can time an extraction at a glance. It's a real tool complication for a home barista — the coffee equivalent of a dive bezel or a tachymeter. ## See Also - [[Microbrands]] — Brew brand profile + broader landscape - [[Coffee]] / [[Lelit Elizabeth]] — the hobby this watch crosses into - [[My Watch Collection]] - [[Watch Wish List]] — Art & Design category
